
World Environment Day, celebrated each year on 5 June is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations Environment Programme stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and focuses political attention and action.
Each year, Clean Up the World members participate in a range of activities to celebrate World Environment Day.

The Paint for the Planet initiative, an exhibition and auction of children's art, launched the global United Nations campaign "UNite to Combat Climate Change". The event featured a selection of paintings from UNEP's International Children's Painting Competition. Showcasing children's fears and hopes for the planet, the paintings were a powerful plea from children for leadership on climate change before it is too late.
